Golden Globes

I haven't often agreed with many of the awards given out in recent years by various arts organizations, but tonight's Golden Globes had a few that I cheered, including:

Hugh Laurie for House;

Mary Louise Parker for Weeds;

Reese Witherspoon for Walk the Line;

Paul Newman for Empire Falls and

Jonathan Rhys Meyers for Elvis.

My favorite awards of the evening were :

Philip Seymour Hoffman for Capote;

S. Epatha Merkerson for Lackawanna Blues and

John Williams for the Memoirs of a Geisha soundtrack.
